How To Throw A Backyard Eid al-Adha Celebration

For those of you who yearn to hold on to summer for as long as you can, what better than to throw an upscale barbeque for Eid al-Adha. It is the perfect occasion to share delicious grilled lamb and beef dishes while spending time with family and friends.

Decor: Boho Vibes

The lights, decor, and vibe of a backyard wedding really translate into great Eid decor. I love dreamcatchers, they are so whimsical and can be customized to various tastes. When I was in grade school, I would make homemade dream catchers from paper plates and yarn. Nowadays, it’s so easy to make them from a few simple items from Michaels Craft Store. You can see my tutorial here. Summer backyard lights, mason jars with candles, combined with the dream catchers made for a beautiful ambiance.

Drinks: Melon Drinks

Many people enjoy Melon during Ramadan and Eid holidays because it was one of the Prophet’s (PBUH) favorite foods. So I love to offer a few melon drinks on Eid day:

Main Course: Lamb Chops

Lamb and beef are staples of the Eid-al-Adha celebration, as Turkey is to Thanksgiving, and Ham is to Christmas. Check out my simple and tasty Grilled Lamp Recipe.

Eid al-Adha is called the greater of the two Eids but often has less fanfare. I’m looking forward to bringing Eid cheer to our home this year. Along with this celebration, my family started a few new traditions in regards to volunteering and giving during this time.

I hope you have a blessed Eid celebration.

Peace & Salam,
