Find Inspiration
I first learned about graham cracker masjids from my Ramadan Crafts Facebook group. But they were mostly kids’ crafts. I wanted to create something elegant for the adult crafter. So I searched the web for inspiration. I came across this image (below).
Stock Up On Supplies
- Graham Crackers
- Icing (I bought pre-made)
- Sprinkles
- Trader Joe’s Meringues
- Hershey kisses
- Trader Joe’s baton wafers
Prep Your Space
I like to make my houses on baking trays and transfer them after letting them cool in the fridge. To make my masjid, you’ll need this many pieces for construction.
Pro Tips
I usually treat my icing like cement, and the best way to get them to hold is to stick your construction into the fridge between phases. Make the base. Put it in the fridge. Add outside icing, and put it in the fridge. If I’m feeling ambitious with design. I’ll decorate first and assemble after.
Peace & Salam,
