Cover Reveal of LULU IN THE SPOTLIGHT and Free Art Project and Printable

I started IslamiMommy to share the traditions that bring joy to my family. And so much of my identity lives in the intersection of being Muslim, Bengali, and American. I am so excited to share that my second author-illustrated picture book is Lulu in the Spotlight: A South Asian Wedding Story.

To celebrate I created a spotlight themed paper art project. The video tutorial and art lesson are below. And for the COVER REVEAL, please scroll down to the bottom!

Video Tutorial

Recording myself in front of the camera continues to be a strange exercise. But I hope this video puts a smile on the face of kids (and kids at heart).

Free Art Lesson and Printable

I had so much fun creating this art lesson and the free printable. If you would like a copy, just share your email below for instant access!

Cover Reveal

After many long nights (and pounds of dark chocolate), the moment is here! Thank you to my agent, Tanusri, editor Weslie, and art director Jeanne, along with the VERSIFY and HarperCollins team, for all their support. When I learned my art director was Jeanne Hogle, who designed the Fancy Nancy books, I totally fan-girled. I love that book series, and it continues to influence my work. I can’t wait to share the many influences behind Lulu In The Spotlight in the coming weeks.

As an art docent for my children’s elementary school I had the privilege of teaching Night Walk, a lesson created my artist Lee-Jean Lin, a few years ago. It very much inspired me to create this art project. Many thanks to her and the South Bay Hands on Art team for giving me the opportunity to do one of my favorite things, teach kids art.

Peace and Salam,
Natasha
